When planning out your kitchen or bathroom renovations you have probably considered natural stone or quartz as options for your countertops. But have you ever considered sintered stone? What even is sintered stone?
Like Quartz, Sintered Stone is a manufactured product made from a base of natural stone. Depending on the manufacturer, Quartz has a base of around 90%-95% natural quartz stone, mixed with pigments, polymers and resins which is what bonds the slab together.
Sintered Stone is different in that it is made entirely from natural materials which are formed into incredibly strong and durable slabs which have countless applications. This process is called sintering.
Cosentino carries a brand of sintered stone called Dekton. It is made of a sophisticated mixture of more than 20 minerals extracted from nature. Dekton's exclusive press generates 25,000 tons of uniform pressure (2.5 times the weight of Eiffel Tower). As a result of this ultracompaction process, Dekton has no micro-defects that cause weak points and it has an almost no porosity. This makes it abrasion resistant, scratch and impact resistant and water and stain resistant.
Dekton comes in a variety of sizes, thicknesses, colors and textures. Dekton's high performance makes its ideal for both indoor and outdoor projects including kitchen and bathroom counter tops, fireplace surrounds and outdoor bbq areas!
