We had two new Yoga students last night. What a pleasure to see Jennifer's careful teaching - these students were naturally flexible but that doesn't mean that Jennifer just threw them into advanced poses. Instead, she taught them the strict traditional elements that keep us safe and prevent injury: bandhas, breath, and alignment.

We had a new Yoga student join us this week. She is new to us but certainly not new to Yoga. She is an advanced Yogi with many years of experience and a strong Ashtanga practice. It's a joy to have her with us. She made an interesting comment about our wonderful Yoga teacher, Jennifer Bustin. She said that when Jennifer assisted her in her poses, she felt much more secure, grounded, and safe than with other teachers. She wondered if Jennifer's Karate practice brings this quality to her Yoga teaching.

Had a wonderful visit and conversation with one of our advanced and long-time Yoga students. She emphasized how important Gratitude has been for her in her healing journey. This is such an important insight. Gratitude is at the heart of all traditional practice. That's what the bow in Karate expresses, for example. As the billboard in front of one of our local churches put it: "We're not grateful because we are happy; we're happy because we're grateful!"

We have some students who are learning the great Kanshiwa kata this summer so I made two videos for them. One is a quick demo and the other a more careful analysis. There's so much more to unpack here but I hope this is a good start! Enjoy! See you in Class!! Kanshiwa demo at https://youtu.be/Uj4qf5DyW0c Kanshiwa sequence at https://youtu.be/6GpUIjyR6_4
